Research has shown that the family creates the building blocks a child needs in order to go out and face the world. As a child is forming their own sense of self, the attitudes and the values of the parents, environment and childcare will influence the child. This forms a critical balanced triangle. Thus, as a child transitions into a social environment, it's extremely important to do it gradually and not as a shocking experience.
"Having a child grow up in a home environment leads to them seeking out better relationships, have better communication and social skills, are better prepared for school, and helps them get ready to experience success in their lives".
Sunnyside uses "The HighScope Curriculum", a high-quality, research-based approach to learning, which supports children in becoming strong, independent learners. This curriculum approach aligns with How Does Learning Happen?, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (Ministry of Education, 2014) (HDLH) and Ontario’s Renewed Early Years and Child Care Policy Framework (2017). In addition, children start the program by learning basic sign-language and finish the program with a good foundation of early French.
Infant Program
At Sunnyside, your little one will start the journey of learn through play. Infant care is based on love, nurture, gentleness and consistency. Infants get daily exposure to nursery rhymes, books with engagement and sign language.
Toddler Program
Toddlers are a bundle of joy. As their journey of learning continues, we provide an exciting, loving, fun and safe environment. Children get read classic toddler stories and books, as well as introduction to letters, numbers and shapes.
Pre-school Program
Our environment is based on play-based learning, fun, stimulating and meaningful. We focus on language, math, and science in a natural sequence to encourage a love of learning. Children at this level graduate, and have an easier transition to JK, by demonstrating confidence.
We created a program that is play-based and it provides learning opportunities, based on each child's development and interests.
